Someone asked, and I say...

It's quite short, this time around. The question seemed so sad, I had to give the whole thing a sing-song feel, from LOL-Cat silliness to many amphibrachs, just to keep myself cheerful. I think I'll call it "Fluffball".

Fluffball

Our poor little fluffball, she's limping! You see,
The silly cat pounced on a candle (what lark!)
Which we had set out against vesperal dark
And now she's got wax on her paws. (goodness me!)

Yes! Why say more? A very evocative rhyme, with a strong "picture in my head".

I like your poem, Bat! =) It's cute, fun, and brimming with amused affection for the unfortunate cat!

I should further add that no cats were hurt in the writing of this poem.

The poem is nimble. And this line keeps ringing so pleasantly to me:

"The silly cat pounced on a candle (what lark!)"

I can envision Tom Bombadil speaking this spontaneously after his cat (granted he had a cat) did this.

I was sort-of annoyed with myself for making half of each rhyme a non-sequitur or aside... today I don't mind so much.
